Subjects: first year Medical Science students.

Title: Human Anatomy and Physiology (7th Ed), A Brief Atlas of the Human Body (2nd Ed).

Author: Elaine N. Marieb and Katja Hoehn.

Price: $40 for both books (they came as a pack). (RRP. $105).

Condition: 9/10. A tear on the spine. CD ROM is somewhere (don't know where, but if I find it I'll let you know). There is a bit of light coloured marking from where I stuck page tabs..

Comment: I used these books for the subject Medical Science 1 and Medical Science 2 back in 2007. Both were extremely useful and covers all fundamental anatomy material. After the restructuring of the Science courses, new books were introduced for the syllabus. However the content is pretty much the same.

Subjects: first year Chemistry (Chemistry 1 and Chemistry 2).

Title: Chemistry, The central science: a broad perspective.

Author: Brown and Lemay.

Price: $90 (RRP. $142).

Condition: 9.5/10. A bit of curling but very minimal. CD ROM is included. hoorah! On top of that you get a really cool molecular modelling kit so you can learn all about molecular structures. =)

Comment: This has got to be one of the most useful books for getting the fundamentals in chemistry right. It's very easy to read, pretty concise (although 3 inches thick) and has excellent images. I kept referring back to this book even in Chemistry 2 and some other subjects later in the course.

Subjects: Immunology 1 (or now known as Introductory Haematology and Immunology) and Immunology 2 or Advanced Immunology.

Title: Kuby Immunology. Sixth Edition.

Author: Kindt, Goldsby and Osborne.

Price: $80 (RRP. $130).

Condition: 9/10. Paperback cover which is folded in one corner. All pages are in perfect condition. Hardly used.

Comment: Explanations of immunological processes with diagrams the lecturer uses. Good summaries too.

Subjects: Haematology 1 (or now known as Introductory Haematology and Immunology) and Haematology 2 or Advanced Haematology.

Title: Microscopic Haematology, a practical guide for the laboratory. Second edition.

Author: Gillian Rozenburg

Price: $120 (RRP. $314.95).

Condition: 7.5/10. Moderate curling, some page tab markings from where the sticker was stuck to the page. The content is still there, it just shows how much use I got from it!

Comment: It's impossible to get through Haematology 1 and 2 without this book, as it makes practical exams in both subjects a breeze. It's very easy to read, concise and has excellent images. It can be used to some extent in the subject Anatomical Pathology as a reference too. Theory and practical exam questions are based on this book and the next one..

Subjects: Haematology 1 (or now known as Introductory Haematology and Immunology) and Haematology 2 or Advanced Haematology.

Title: Essential Haematology, Sixth Edition.

Author: Hoffbrand, Moss and Pettit.

Price: $40 (RRP. $83).

Condition: 9.5/10. Minimal curling, minimal page tab markings from where the sticker was stuck to the page.

Comment: It's possible to get through Haematology 1 and 2 without this book, but it has a lot of information that the previous book by Rozenburg hasn't covered. If you really want processes of cells explained, then this one is really handy too. It's very easy to read, concise and has excellent images. It can be used to some extent in the subject Anatomical Pathology as a reference too. I'd suggest getting this book if you want those extra marks in exams...plus Narelle seems to ask a lot of questions about cell processes *hint hint*

Subjects: General Microbiology

Title: Prescott, Harley and Klein's Microbiology, Seventh Edition.

Author: Prescott, Harley and Klein

Price: $70 (RRP. $129.95).

Condition: 9.5/10. All pages are in perfect condition.

Comment: This book has explanations of processes/techniques that you might use in General Microbiology. Really handy diagrams included. I think the lecturer provides you with the online link that gives you access to animations and questions from what I remember. Oh yeah, and I didn't go to any of the lectures for this subject at all (clash) and still managed to pass thanks to this book!

Subjects: Metabolic Biochemistry.

Title: Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry, Fifth Edition.

Author: Nelson and Cox

Price: $90 (RRP. $149).

Condition: 10/10.

Comment: This book has really goood explanations of cell processes and lab techniques that you might use in Metabolic Biochemistry. Good as a reference for lab reports and assignments. Really handy diagrams included. I think the lecturer provides you with the online link that gives you access to animations and questions from what I remember.

Subjects: Analytical Biochemistry.

Title: Principles and Techniques of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Author: Wilson and Walker

Price: $90 (RRP. $150).

Condition: 9.5/10.

Comment: This book has really goood explanations of lab techniques that you might use in Analytical Biochemistry. Good as a reference for lab reports, exams and assignments. Really handy diagrams included. The majority of the questions asked in exams and reports are related to the techniques used in the field, and this book really explains those topics well. Oh and it is a nice compact size for your handbag.....

Subjects: Molecular Biology 1 and Molecular Biology 2.

Title: Essential Genes.

Author: Benjamin Lewin.

Price: $70 (RRP. $117.95).

Condition: 10/10.

Comment: This book is a really awesome reference for any molecular related subject. The lecturer in Molecular Biology 2 advised us to get this book.. I wish someone could've told us to buy it for Molecular Biology 1! It's just really easy to follow and absorb the information in it and the diagrams are awesome (also used in lectures). Worthwhile investment here.

Subjects: Physical Modelling.

Title: University Physics with Modern Physics. Tenth Edition.

Author: Young and Freedman.

Price: $40 (RRP. $113.95).

Condition: 7.5/10. I made highlights in the book, but only on a few pages out of the 1500 or so pages. The first page is folded from when I dropped the book. Bit of curling on the cover but that's about it. Paperback cover.

Comment: First year physics textbook. Has problems in it that the teachers might use in tests.. unless it's changed since I did it.

Subjects: Object Oriented Programming.

Title: The Complete Java Reference: Java 2 Fifth Edition / An Introduction to Object Oriented Programming with Java Second Edition.

Author: Herbert Schildt / Thomas Wu.

Comment: These books come as a package. Good reference for the subject and programming subjects further down the line. The black book by Wu includes a CD rom.

Comment: Awesome book for final exam, assignments and studying throughout semester. Lecturer picks questions from it.

Comment: "Authorative reference on C". Very useful in the subject.

Comment: Awesome way of demonstrating solutions, with hand drawn circuit diagrams and step by step explanations.

Subjects: this isn't a prescribed textbook, it was bought for me by mistake and couldn't be refunded! Therefore these haven't been used before.

Comment: These books are more practically inclined and more suited towards electrical trades people.

Comment: Prescribed text by the lecturer. Outlines fundamental computer hardware design and includes questions that the lecturer uses in exams and class (things may have changed).
